Somersby Falls and Glenworth Valley Horseriding
The day started off with a walk around Somersby falls, a very short and relaxing walk passing a series of waterfalls. The total distance is about 400m return.
There was the 1st fall....
top Somersby falls...
and bottom Somersby falls.....
The walk around the rainforest was stunning....
There is a picnic area with barbeque facility right next to the car park. You are suppose to pay for the car parking but the ticket machine was no where to be seen.
A few turkeys surrounded us during our picnic brunch, eager to share our meal. With Christmas coming around the corner, brush turkeys walking around the barbeque stand might not be a good idea. Try telling that to the turkeys....
Next stop is Glenworth Valley for our horse ride.
The weather was clear and sunny. Too bad we cannot take photos during horse riding due to safety reasons.
The area where we got on our horses was very muddy, with a mixture of mud, horse urine and faeces. Not a very nice ground to walk through, I felt sorry for my shoes, half of it sank into the mud with every step I took. I think next time I will spend extra to hire a pair of boots.
The time taken to prepare our horses was very long due to the large amount of people there on the day. There were a lot of staff to get through this process as quick and smoothly as possible.
The staff were experienced and very friendly. My horse was a bit lazy. No matter how hard I kick it and led it out of the line of horses, he still go back to follow the bum of this particular horse in front of us. Perhaps he likes the smell of that horse's bum, or simply they are trained to follow each other. Maybe it will be a better idea for next time to sound more experienced and confident in riding in hope that they will choose a relatively more active horse for you.
Finally, we stopped at a look out of Glenworth Valley. Had another picnic for afternoon tea under the afternoon sun.
Overall, a lovely day out. I really enjoyed the rainforest and the waterfalls. Horse riding was great for a beginner like me to build up the riding skills and confidence. The track might be too basic for more experience riders, but I think they do offer more adventurous tracks for self guided tours. Everyone was happy until we sat down for dinner and experienced the side effect of horse riding....
