Minnehaha Falls - Blue Mountains

We saw the name of this track on the map and thought..... Are you serious? Minnehaha Falls at the end of Minni-Ha-Ha Road. All I can say after looking at it was "haha..." We were determined to find out if this is the official name.

The name of this reserve is in fact Minnehaha, no joke. It is a beautiful short walking track that ends at the waterfall, Minnehaha Falls.

The rain was drizzling while we started our walk. It was a peaceful and easy walk, There was a small river at the beginning of the walk. I guess the water in this river runs to the waterfall.

We walked along the ridges on a flat path to a lookout. We could see that the waterfall was positioned at a much lower level than us. I wondered whether we could get to the bottom of the waterfall. I have seen photos taken right next to the waterfall and I was very keen to get there.

Not long after, my question was answered. There was a steep metal steps going downwards, then more steep track, taking us right to the bottom of the waterfall.

The waterfall fell into a pool of beautiful clear water. Looked like a great place for swimming. Only if the day wasn't so freezing.

After talking our time to appreciate the beautiful surroundings and taking photos of this waterfall. We traced our way back.

Before we got to the metal steps, we saw a sandy patch down next to the river where the waterfall ran into. There were no formed track for this but we attempted to see if we could get down there. There were foot prints on the sand, indicating that someone was down there.

There were some big rocks to jump down with steep and slippery paths, but we got to the sandy ground in one piece.

After a short stay next to the river come the part I dreaded... The steep upward climb. Luckily the climb, even though was steep, but it wasn't long and we were up to the top in no time.

Once we got the top, the rest was a walk in the park to our car.

I love discovering this kind of hidden gem. Will definitely come back in summer for a swim.

Total distance: 3.6km
Climb: 93m
Difficulty: Easy
