Otford to Figure of Eight Pools

Image
This is the second time I did this walk. Last time I went on the high tide and wasn't able to get too close to the pools. This time I was determined to get a closer and better look at it. The walk started from Otford station, up a very steep path to Lady Wakehurst Drive. Then we walked along the road to the start of Cliff track, with a beautiful lookout of Wollongong and the Sea Cliff Bridge. The track begins with more climbs, which made me think maybe I had enough of this walk already. I was already tired and puffed out, and this is only the start of the walk!! Once we got to the top of the hill, the walk got easier and we walked on a fairly easy, flat path and service trail. We reached Garrawarra farm car park and turned down to the Coast Walk, declining to Burning Palms Beach.  A bit or walking on beach and rocks, we finally reached the pools. There are a few pools that looks like the figu...

Loftus to Bundeena Walk

Image
The walk started on the east side of Loftus station, passing a tramyard and crossing a very busy Princess Highway. It connected to the service trail alongside the Royal National Park tramlines. We headed down this trail to the National Park Educational Centre for a toilet break. The walk then continued down the Honeymoon trail and descended towards Audley. Very tempted to stop there and do some kayaking instead. After Audley there was a steep and rocky ascend up Winifred falls trail. The trail narrowed at times with trees blocking the path. Even thought it was the middle of winter, some small flowers along the way were starting to blossom. We arrived at Winifred falls. It has been very dry lately so the waterfall looked more like drizzles from the rock shelf. There was a pool at the waterfall base but the water was too cold for a swim. The water was shallow so a few people decided to get their feet wet by...

Wattamolla to Curracurrong Walk

Image
We started the walk from Wattamolla picnic area, along the Royal National Park coastline to Curracurrang cove, Eagle Rock, Curracurrong falls, and back. It was worth taking the time along the walk to absorb the beautiful scenery and the calmness of the surroundings. The day was sunny and dry, with heavy wind predicted for the afternoon. I was glad we didn't get hit with the heavy wind during the walk as I wasn't looking forward to end up at the bottom of the cliffs. These places are not reachable by public transport. You can access Wattamolla picnic area by car or foot. The fee for each vehicle entry is $11. The rest of the way to Curracurrong falls must be done via the walking track. This is why this walk is so much quieter and calmer, and the sceneries are not ruined by a crowd of people's heads. Wattamolla is a popular picnic area, lagoon and beach in the Royal National Park. Two...
