Woy Woy to Little Wobby Walk

About one year ago, we attempted to walk from Little Wobby to Woy Woy, but failed. We got lost along the way, ended up going off track and had to turn back to Little Wobby. Today, we were determined to complete this walk from the opposite side, Woy Woy to Little Wobby.

We took a taxi from Woy Woy train station to the start of the track to save the boring 3km road walk. The walk was all on the fire trail at the beginning before we turned off at the right hand side and descend steeply down a rocky track. The track led us to a campsite. We turned into the campsite and a short walk away was the top of a very small waterfall.

After walking down to the bottom of the waterfall, taking a brief break there, we turned around and traced our way back to the fire trail.

We continued down this fire trail, passing this beautiful spot on the left hand side of the track. It was hidden behind the trees but luckily someone spotted it.

We kept on walking until we reached the top of another small waterfall.

We stopped to have our lunch there and walked down to the bottom of the waterfall to take some photos.

After lunch, we continued on this track for roughly around 30 minutes before someone started to wonder where exactly we were and how far we were away from our destination.

To our horror, we realised we were off track... and I mean, off track for quite a long time.

When we visited the first waterfall after the rocky track, we were meant to continue on that track past the campsite. This meant, we had to walk back to nearly the start of the walk. By that time, it was past 2:30pm, and the chance of walking to Little Wobby before the last ferry at 4pm was very slim. The group decided to walk back to Woy Woy. Feeling a great disappointment that we couldn't complete this walk... again..... and not willing to come back for the third attempt, I decided to leave the group with one other person and attempt to walk to our destination by walking at a fast pace.

After leaving the group at the fire trail, we ran down the rocky track until we reached this pond.

The track then sharp turned back to nearly the direction we came from. It became very narrow, rough, with a lot of bush bashing and obstacles on the way. On top of that, there were a lot of cobweb and spiders on the track, probably because not many people have walked there. This made walking fast on this track very difficult. Before I know it, I was walking at a slower rate than my usual rate, making sure I won't hit a spider face on with my mouth open.

After a lengthy walk in the confined bush, we finally reached an open space where we could see a panorama view of Hawksbury River. I told myself... the end is near. Maybe we could make it to the ferry in time after all.

After some quick photo taking on the cliff tops, we resumed our power walking on the track. Little did I know that even though it didn't look like we were that far off to Little Wobby wharf, we were actually not that close too. This track was not very well formed and we kept on going off track, which didn't help. Eventually, we decided we were not going to make it in time for the 4pm ferry.

We took a shortcut down from the cliff top. This track was really steep and slippery, which made someone who is scared of height, like me, very uncomfortable. There were quite a few big rocks to walk down on, which I did very slowly. I was not sure if this shortcut was saving me time or taking more time.

We came out from where this power pole is located at 4:15pm.

We finally got to the bottom with the sun shining on us. A big sigh of relief and proud of my accomplishment. At that time we had one more problem to solve..... how to get back to Brooklyn?

We missed the last ferry but upon request, the ferry could come out to pick us up at 6:45pm. That would be 1.5 hour wait. Luckily the water taxi could get to us within 5 minutes.

So glad to be safely back and I got to experience riding on a water taxi for the first time! Also happy to be able to finally successfully complete this walk and be able to  tick this off my walking list.
