Bouddi National Park
Today we did an exploratory walk around Bouddi National Park. I have done Bouddi Coastal Walk to Maitland Bay about a year ago. Today, we planned to walk to Lobster Beach, Tallow Beach, Box Head, and do part of coastal walk if we have time.
The track to Lobster Beach started with many steps up to the top of the hill before we descended down to the beach. It was a small and private beach.
We then continued onto Flannel Flower Walking Track and Box Head Track. We followed the track along the ridge top until the track opened up with a panoramic view over Tallow Beach, Box Head and Lion Island.
We finally reached Box Head with a view of the Tasman sea and Hawkesbury River.
The track actually continued steeply downwards to the bottom of the cliff, which was not on our map. The track was very rough and slippery. The guy behind me slipped and nearly took me out! On the bottom there were interesting rock formations.
We continued our walk along the bottom of the cliff. There were no visible tracks so we had to find our own way on the rocks. I was getting a bit nervous as the wave splashing against the rock edges were not too far from where we were walking.
We found this warning sign but it was too late, we came from the opposite side. Luckily no boulders fell on any of us.
We walked past Little Tallow Beach. Some of us took a quick swim in the ocean to cool off before we continued our journey.
We found a tiny little waterfall next to the beach.
We reached Tallow Beach but we didn't walk down to it. We headed uphill on the fire trail back to the car park. There were so many views along the way.
Apparently giraffe looking dogs are prohibited on Putty beach.
We had a little bit of time to do Bouddi Coastal Walk before we had to rush back to catch the 4:30pm ferry at Wagstaffe. I did this part before. It was so beautifully scenic that I wanted to do it again.
There were many tessellated pavements along the coast which made this walk very interesting.
We turned off on the left hand side into a side track. This was the part I haven't done before because it was not marked on my map. It was a narrow bush track that led us to an area surrounded by trees. We began to climb steeply upwards. The track became more tricky, rough and hands were required to climb up some big rocks.
A rope was provided to be used to get up this steep rock.
It was a steep climb, but before you know it, we had made a lot of progress and climbed up to Bullimah lookout. We were treated with a beautiful view at the top.
Someone tried to propose on the beach on the day. I said "yes!!".... but the message wasn't for me. Maybe one day I might be lucky.
There were a few lookouts along Bullimah Spur Track with views over Maitland Bay.
We then walked up to Maitland Bay Information Centre and back to Wagstaffe wharf via Hardys Bay, passing a tiny beach called Pretty Beach.
Total distance: 19.2km
Climb: 609m

We had lunch at this spot, over looking Tallow Beach, Box Head and the Tasman Sea. Felt so lucky to be out today and enjoying such amazing view.

It was a great day exploring and taking routes that we had no idea where it leads to. Life is an adventure..... you just don't know where it is taking you and what is around the corner...........
