Muogamara National Reserve

Muogamara National Reserve lies between the outer Sydney suburb of Cowan and Hawkesbury River. It only opens to the public for 6 weekends each year in spring in order to preserve the fragile ecosystems and Aboriginal heritage of this nature reserve. Spring brings out the beauty of blossoming wildflowers. We started the day with breakfast at Pie in the Sky, just across the road of the entrance of Muogamarra National Reserve. Before 9am there were already a line of cars waiting to get into the reserve. Once the gate opened we joined the line and the slow traffic towards the Information Centre. It was a long narrow road and I wondered how oncoming cars are meant to go pass us. Lucky we didn't have to worry about that. Once we get into the National Reserve, there were rangers giving information, directing you to parking spots, and taking entry fees of course. $10 for adult, $5 for child, and $25 per family of 2 adults and 3 school age children. Exploring Minnamurra to Kiama

I have done this coastal walk from Gerringong to Minnamura a few months ago but I realised I missed some interesting places along the way. This time I came back to explore this section in greater depth. We began the walk from Minnamura station and took a short walk to Minnamurra river. A little beach led to a rocky headland. We made a few wrong turns which led us to some magical places. We might have trespassed through some people's backyards along the way..... We took a back way which we thought was a short cut. Not long after, I started to wonder if this is leading anywhere? It did lead us to another beach, and at the end of that beach we found this waiting around the corner..... THE CATHEDRAL ROCK! The last time I saw it was from a lookout. I did wonder back then if I could walk down, closer to the rock, but I couldn't see the path. So this was a really pleasant surprise for me.
